Project Overview
The proposed installation consists of 12 custom-built LED bars, each stretching 120cm in length and equipped with 70 addressable LEDs.
Each bar is supported by two wooden poles, designed with varying heights to pivot the bars towards the audience.
Incorporated into each of the 12 bars is a voice playback module, designed to deliver a Doppler shift like auditory effect. Each module is capable of playing a sequence of words, with a total of 64 different words available across the system. The unique setup allows for a word to be played from one speaker at a time, in a sequential manner along the line of bars. This creates a distinctive effect, where the sound of a single word appears to travel across the installation.
Control and Interaction
One of the most distinctive features of "Luminous Echoes" is its interactive capability,
the installation is equipped with a control panel, featuring
5 LED buttons that allow participants to actively influence the light patterns and sound sequences.
We plan to have a set of sound sequences, which can be triggered by the audience, preprogrammed on the first night of the festival.
During the first day of the festival, we will collect words from the audience, which will be used to create a new set of sound sequences for the second night.
Such a feature will
not only personalizes the experience but also creates a sense of ownership and connection among the audience.
Hardware Components
In the 'Luminous Echoes' installation, we've incorporated a range of components to create a unique sensory experience. The visual journey is
lit by 840 addressable LEDs, powered by two power supplies (one 12V 33A and one 12V 12.5A), 13 5V converters, and 1 3v converter.
The ESP32 microcontroller drives the LED displays, and the Pico Pi manages the sound system through 12 DY-SV19R
audio modules. The auditory side of things is supplied by 12 5W speakers, each securely housed in custom project boxes.

Power Consumption and Efficiency
A key aspect of the "Luminous Echoes" installation is its energy management, ensuring an eco-friendly and cost-efficient
operation. The installation has a maximum power consumption of approximately 349 watts, but realistically, will never reach that level.
To assist in further energy efficiency, we've scheduled for the LED bars to remain off during daylight hours.

The LEDs run at a voltage of 12v and use two weather proof LED power supplies to evenly distribute the current over the 840 LEDs.
The LEDs are IP68 sealed and the power can be connected via a 16 amp blue plug.
The main controller boards are sealed and housed within the control panel.
Our echoes roll from soul to soul,. And grow for ever and for ever.
